ACL Surgery Alternative: New Regenexx-ACL Video

Is getting an ACL surgery a good idea? Should you be looking for an ACL surgery alternative instead?  Explaining difficult topics to patients in simple ways and helping them navigate through all of the truths and untruths out there is always a challenge. We have tried to do this through a series of fun and educational videos. I actually really enjoy helping to produce these videos.  Trying to help patients understand difficult research, and effectively communicating the concepts minus the medical jargon in a few minutes, is what practicing medicine is all about.  After all, this is their bodies we are talking about. They have a right to understand the what, and the why, and the risks of any proposed treatment plan…especially one as invasive and proven ineffective as ACL surgery.  So this is our latest addition.  It was born out of the frustration that many patients are under the impression that getting their old ACL torn out and a new one installed is very much like having a part replaced in their car, yet nothing could be further from the truth. In addition, many patients believe that their new ACL will function just like the old one, and that the research shows that getting a new ACL means all of their problems will go away – again, regrettably, both not accurate. While this video is only 99% complete (I have asked that a firmer statement be put in when our case series data is discussed making sure everyone understands that the results weren’t obtained through a randomized controlled trial), I thought you might want a sneak peek. We do have a stem cell ACL surgery alternative randomized controlled trial we’re recruiting for right now, so if you know someone with an ACL tear who would like to be part of that free study, please contact [email protected] to find more.
