Knee Stem Cell Update

It’s always nice to share comments we get from prior patients. KJ received Regenexx-C stem cell injections into his left knee back in 2009. He recently saw a news article where a physician stated that he thought Bartolo’s successful stem cell treatment was likely a placebo effect. KJ piped in on the article and submitted this comment that he just sent to me via e-mail:

“I happen to have had my stem cells reinjected into my bone-on-bone knee by Dr. Chris Centeno, mentioned in your story; not only was the price just $8,000, but I have two MRI’s to show what happened. The first, before stem cells, was a knee with NO cartilage on the bone ends and overdue for a knee replacement ($42,000).  The second shows tendrils of new cartilage on both bone ends… not quite a placebo. By the way, I’m walking, working, exercising with NO knee pain.  hmmmmm.”

While Bartolo’s successful stem cell injection therapy may have been due to a placebo, given our experience with these procedures such as KJ’s knee stem cell injection, I doubt it. In addition, not every patient gets the long-term robust effects from Regenexx-C that KJ has enjoyed. As my prior blog post discusses, he was placed into the FAIR-POOR category for our knee stem cell procedure because he had more severe knee arthritis with no cartilage and no remaining meniscus on one side. However, KJ surprised us and we’re glad to hear he’s still doing well! Go get ’em KJ!
