This Regenexx blog began back in 2008. At that point the goal was to attract attention to what we were doing. However, along the way, it became much more. It has helped educate me about the latest research as I’m always searching PubMed for the latest study to write about. It also became a way to introduce patients to a new medical specialty-Interventional Orthopedics. Finally, it has become a platform for ideas.
Waking up at 5:45 a.m. everyday to write this is sometimes tough, but mostly routine now. I plant myself in front of the computer, head of hair in bed head disarray. Next comes the hard part, what will I write about? If I’m lucky, some idea will have hit me (usually in clinic when I’m seeing patients) and it flows. If I’m not, then I can sometimes peruse PubMed for a half hour looking for just the right study that will be interesting and provocative. Every once in awhile I actually get ahead and use that great WordPress feature of a scheduled blog post.
The fact that anybody that reads this thing on a regular basis is sometimes amazing to me. I’m always blown away by seeing a new patient in clinic who’s says they’ve been reading the blog. So I applaud you if you can put up with my bleary eyed poor spelling or multiple drafts to see that I really do love this thing. It’s become a way to educate as well as to inspire.
I’d like to thank the Academy… No really, I’d like to thank our NY Regenexx Network affiliate Rob Kramberg, M.D. who’s responsible these days for maybe a third of these blog ideas. Rob shoots me between 2 and 5 research articles a day, many of which make it to the blog. Thanks Rob!
To celebrate the day, I thought I would highlight my top 10 personal favorite posts of the last few months (they are in no particular order):
