Here is the annual download of patients treated for hip arthritis from our advanced treatment registry. For many years, I have blogged that we believe as clinicians that hip arthritis patients tend to under-perform knee arthritis patients when it comes to stem cells. This year’s data continues to show this trend. Our research is also beginning to tie age and outcome in hips. We did find a statistically significant difference in all time points between age over 55 and poor outcome. From our earlier collection of data on hip patients who had our cultured stem cell procedure, patients who received cultured stem cells into their arthritic hips tended to do better than those who had a same day stem cell procedure. We are continuing to try new same day treatment methods to better help older hip arthritis patients, in particular a new way of addressing the severe range of motion loss that we believe is one root cause of the lack of response. However, for now, if you’re younger than 55, this same day procedure may be a good fit. If you’re older than 55, you may want to consider a cultured procedure (Regenexx-C) rather than a same day procedure.
