John Hopkins jumps into the Arthroscopy Debate...  As you know from reading this blog, there is little evidence that arthroscopic knee surgery to "repair" a meniscus or "clean up" cartilage works. The Johns Hopkins medical newsletter just jumped into the fray by reminding everyone of several studies including a Cochrane Review that shows that knee arthroscopic knee debridement doesn't work to help patients with arthritis. With all the evidence that this procedure doesn't work to help patients, we still see it being performed, so we applaud the newsletter for informing patients.
