Healing a Senior's Pelvic Fracture with Stem Cells
Jane Anderson underwent the Regenexx-C procedure for a non-healing pelvic fracture. What follows is her personal experience and is not necessarily indicative of all patient's results. "In March 2007 I fractured my pelvis in four places. I'm 82 years old, so an injury like this can be a devastating thing. I tried to let the fractures heal on their own and get through the pain and debilitating impacts on my life, but after three months there were still no signs whatsoever of any healing." "In fact, my situation was getting worse. Three top orthopedic surgeons said they couldn't do anything due to my osteoarthritis, and my pelvis was starting to break down. My daughter, Dr. Justine Anderson, had worked with Dr. Centeno at Regenerative Sciences and knew of his work with stem cell therapy. Both my daughter and I have extensive backgrounds in health care, both holistic and Western, and after talking to Dr. Centeno we felt very comfortable with the procedure. We did the initial stem cell draw on June 4 and had the first injection at the end of June. I was amazed at how quick and painless the procedure was. There was a little bit soreness after the draw and the injection, but it felt more like a slight bruise than anything else. The results were absolutely amazing. Just 24 hours later, I had no pain at all in my pelvis. In four weeks, a CAT scan showed the beginnings of the healing process, and in eight weeks another scan showed a moderate union of the fractures. I'm now living in Boulder, walking on my own, without a walker, and I have no pain whatsoever. This technique, which is minimally invasive, is a complete miracle as far as I'm concerned. I want the whole world – especially seniors – to know that injuries such as femoral, hip and pelvic fractures don't have to diminish your quality of life. You can be healthy and moving forward again with this procedure.” NOTE: This patient was treated with the Regenexx-C cultured stem cell injections and not Regenexx-SD. Regenexx-C is a medical procedure and like all medical procedures has successes and failures. Not every fracture patient we treat can expect this amazing result.
