Regenexx Knee Stem Cell Recovery: Paying It Forward…

Social Media is a great tool, as it allows us to hear from people in ways we would not otherwise. Six months ago we heard from Joseph through Facebook, inquiring about whether we sold Regenexx tee shirts. He had just had a procedure, and wanted to wear it as an opportunity to talk about his Regenexx knee stem cell recovery. His excitement was infectious!

Joseph had been suffering with deep arthritic knee pain for ten years. His knee had gotten progressively worse to the point that he needed a cane, and he was no longer able to do the things he needed or wanted to do, which as a husband and father of young children was very difficult.

He decided to treat his knee arthritis non-surgically and had a Regenexx SD procedure done on his left knee by Dr. Marc Adelsheimer, one of our Regenexx Providers at Rehabilitation and Pain Specialists in Pittsburgh. With the RAPS team’s great care, soon after the procedure he was walking with just a brace on his knee and without pain for the first time in 10 years.

Through the months we’ve learned more about Joseph’s recovery. Getting updates and pictures of his journey is always a day brightener. From the first time back on a treadmill, to lifting weights, to running for the first time in many years  took incredible determination. Getting back to doing the things he loves with his family, and being able to do things he never thought he’d be able to do again, is what this is all about. We’ve also learned how Joseph has used his experience and his Regenexx knee stem cell recovery to pay it forward, and reach out to help others dealing with the types of issues he dealt with during his years of chronic pain with a website he created.

We received this Video last week as a 6 month update…

The upshot?  A lot of research, time and commitment goes into always working to improve the cutting edge Regenexx procedures and the tools to even more effectively predict outcome. It’s really wonderful and humbling to see people like Joseph and others using what that technology has done in their lives, to help others. We can’t wait for the 12 month update!

Like all medical procedures Regenexx-SD has a success and failure rate. Not all patients will experience the same results.

  1. I think it’s a cool idea to have Regenexx T-shirts available for sale for enthusiastic patients. Indeed, I also once asked for it but it was not available. It would be a simple way to spread the word and potentially save others from surgeries and increase their quality of life.

  2. I’m 3 weeks from returning from Grand Cayman having left knee stem cell injections and platelets for my spine. This video gives me encouragement of progress to come.
I may never jump rope but to stand and walk pain free will be a great reward.

  3. I am like Ruth ( in fact we met each other there). Returning fro Grand Cayman having several things treated ( back, hamstring, labrum, hip. And bad right knee). Seeing this video gives me lots of hope that I will be one of the successes also…. 3 weeks out….can’t wait to get the brace off and find out how well I am!

    1. Kay,
I am sure Joseph will be very happy that his journey has given others lots of hope! We do as well! Please keep in close contact with doctors…

  4. I have a Grade 4 bone on bone Osteoarthritis in my right knee. Live on Percocet and have to use a can to ambulate. Had 2 stem cell procedures but the results only last several months. (bone marrow and fat cells combined along with PRP when I started with discomfort again and visco supplement injections.
    What is left for me??????????????????//

    1. Debra,

The viscosupplement injections are really just a lubricant, so they could only potentially provide temporary relief. When and where were your stem cell procedures done?

  5. I have read a lot about Regenexx on the website, read the emails, and attended the Webinars. The Foot and Ankle surgeons and other specialists don’t really know much about these types of services. I asked questions at the Webinars but they were not answered. I also called and talked to people at the Regenexx Contact Us link. Our MD said to wait after a severe injury until mostly recovered, so we did. We learned (too late for us) that this is not correct and that treatment should really begin as soon after the injury to promote an earlier and more complete recovery (rather than allow atrophy and the need for greater restoration!). I think that would be a worthwhile addition to your website and Webinars: come early for that first consult and do not delay to “heal!” Sadly, due to misinformation from an uninformed MD, much recovery could have already been accomplished rather than waiting, deteriorating, and suffering that extra year! Better late than never for us, but I think that is a message worth sharing.

    1. Beverly,
Words of wisdom, thank for sharing! You are right, they don’t, but it’s not just Foot and Ankle surgeons, it’s Orthopedic Doctors in general. It is a very different paradigm, the concepts of which are foreign to the surgical paradigm. Sadly that paradigm has resulted in countless unnecessary surgeries. So sorry Webinar questions weren’t answered. We’ve added a component that allows attendies to submit a question and get an answer even if the question was not answered during the seminar.

  6. Awesome! What would be great if all the orthopedic doctors would catch on to what regenexx is doing so everyone suffering with chronic joint pain would have their joints repaired getting things back to the way they should be. Not only this but I think all insurances should cover such treatments here, even medicare and medicaid should cover these kinds of joint treatments as well. Regenexx continues doing what their doing while all orthopedic doctors do the same as regenexx as well with all insurances covering these kinds of treatments encouraging a healthy happy life for everyone.

    1. I completed stem cell therapy about 3 weeks ago. Both knees, but NOT fat cells, Debra. The bone marrow will give you the most cells. Also took Stem cell activator a month before the therapy. Did the PRP after 6 days. I’m sure it all helps. Did both knees, had lots of arthritis and was bone on bone. I’m carefully line dancing a little more as days go by. No pain, when sitting and sleeping, If anything feels a hey, I back off. Do the therapy faithfully and know I made the right choice in this therapy. And Dr. B did the electric slide with me. I’m way beyond that, now. Yay. Rejuv
      Med!
